SoundHound AI, a leader in voice artificial intelligence, has partnered with Lucid Motors to introduce the Lucid Assistant—a hands-free, in-vehicle voice assistant powered by SoundHound Chat AI. This innovative system allows drivers and passengers to control vehicle functions and access information through natural, conversational speech.
The Lucid Assistant responds to the wake words “Hey Lucid,” enabling users to ask questions and receive accurate answers. It integrates generative AI to provide responses from both real-time information domains and large language models, ensuring comprehensive and up-to-date information. Additionally, the assistant offers access to Lucid’s full car manual, allowing users to inquire about vehicle functionality and control features like navigation via voice commands. Many of these features are accessible without a cellular connection, enhancing reliability.
Dr. Jean-Philippe Gauthier, Head of Software Engineering at Lucid, emphasized that the Lucid Assistant is more than just a voice control feature. Combined with Lucid’s over-the-air software updates, it is designed to evolve in functionality over time, continually enhancing the user experience.
SoundHound’s proprietary technology minimizes the risk of “AI hallucinations”—misleading responses sometimes associated with large language models—ensuring the assistant delivers accurate and reliable information. Currently, the assistant supports multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, Arabic, German, and Dutch, with plans to add more languages in the future.
